Leading Pension Actuary Recognized for His Contributions to Retirement Plan Education
TUCSON, AZ – August 9, 2019 – Kevin Donovan, CPA, EA, FSPA, FCA, founder and lead actuary at Pinnacle Plan Design was presented with the 2019 Edward E. Burrows Distinguished Achievement Award earlier today at ACOPA’s Actuarial Symposium in Chicago. ACOPA (the ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries) is responsible for identifying and addressing the professional development needs of the actuarial membership of ASPPA, the premier organization for retirement plan professionals.
Ed Burrows was a pioneer in the retirement plan industry. Each year, ACOPA honors him by presenting the Ed Burrows Award to one actuary who has followed in his path and lead by his example. This is an actuary that has gone above and beyond in advancing ethics, education, beneficial legislation or regulations that enhance the private pension system.
Donovan earned this award for his dedication to educating his actuarial colleagues about technical defined benefit and cash balance plan issues and the effects of recent legislation. Every year, he speaks at numerous industry conferences across the country. Donovan, along with three other actuaries at Pinnacle Plan Design, are the authors of the Defined Benefit Answer Book, the go-to reference textbook in the industry for technical defined benefit plan matters. He is a founding member of ACOPA and believes strongly in the organization and its mission.
“As I look at the list of past recipients, I am humbled to be in their company,” said Donovan. “Every single one of them has helped my career in one manner or another over the years. Ed clearly was a beacon of the industry, as well as one I was proud to call a friend.”
